According to recent claims from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a commutation application for review by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a whistleblower provided information indicating the inmate is preparing the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for clemency.

Specific details of the “commutation application” are unknown, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, per the insider, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the supervisor has individually organized private meetings for Maxwell and her guests.

These meetings allegedly include a designated private space for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and potential for unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when communications failed for other inmates, she was provided directions about who she should tell her contacts to contact and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told House Democrats that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that those writing to her would send files directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to the inmate, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Reported

Other privileges allegedly granted to her include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson noted.

Recent Background

Recently, reports surfaced that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was more content at the new prison than her previous prison.

This past summer, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most detainees are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around the President's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, Raskin also announced that he had sent a letter to Trump, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and called on the chief executive to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” Raskin wrote in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

Raskin asked whether he had discussed a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed him or anyone else to arrange Maxwell with the move or special conditions in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, family or representatives have made any commitments to the President or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court rejected an petition from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
